Zimbali Golf Resort

The complete Zimbali Estate, home of the luxurious Fairmont Zimbali Lodge and Zimbali Country Club, was built north of Durbin with preservation in mind. Zimbali means “valley of flowers” in the Zulu language. Tom Weiskopf designed the 6,524-meter golf course in 1998 to have amicability with its natural surroundings overlooking the Indian Ocean along the Dolphin Coast.

Zimbali has attracted two world-class events in the past decade: the 2011 Gary Player Invitational, a celebrity pro-am that raises money for underprivileged children and the 2013 Volvo World Challenge, an amateur tournament that attracts more than 70,000 golfers from around the world attempting to qualify.

Now, with technology and the Internet, making reservations in advance has become very easy. An online tee time reservation option has enabled the club to attract global visitors. The clubhouse is uniquely designed around an aging fig tree and crafted by the remains of a destroyed farmhouse. Raised decks enable more views of the course and coast, making Zimbali a perfect spot to chill during a South Africa golf vacation.

Online reservations have many benefits for golfers. These include

  1. They can make reservations from anywhere, anytime and on any internet-enabled device.
  2. With the proper reservation software, the club can provide complete information on their websites. This is beneficial when a golfer logs in when your club is closed. They can still get the information they seek.
  3. Golfers can make or cancel their bookings before the club opens. Others can view the changes instantly on their devices.

The Els Club at Copperleaf

The Els Club Copperleaf is a place that prides itself on its golfing drawcard. Although it is on par with other golf courses so far as facilities are concerned, the owners say the Els Club at Copperleaf has all the features a family would look for in a country club environment. The luxury spa and creche complement the gym and adjoining dining areas, making the traditional clubhouse structure a prominent central hub. There is an impressive cricket oval and pavilion, running trails and a grid of paths and tracks that are undergoing expansion for mountain bikers. Natural wetlands and wild grass expanses are seamlessly merged with everyday life here, providing a natural aesthetic, as well as homes for numerous endangered species.

Consider membership

Most golfers in South Africa enjoy the game by taking membership at one of their over 450 affiliated golf clubs. Over 150,000 golfers in the country enjoy the game through membership, which allows privileged access to that club’s course(s) and the other facilities at the venue. Most clubs host several competitive golf games exclusively for the members throughout the year. You can try the different formats and see how many you finish in the first year of membership.
